Dr. Garelnabi received a Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry and a doctoral degree in Clinical Biochemistry. He joined a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular disease and lipoprotein pathophysiology at Emory University, USA; and later joined The Ohio State University as a research scientist. He joined Siemens Healthcare Diagnostic as a Senior Clinical Chemistry Scientist at the Department of Medical and Clinical Affairs before he was recruited to the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Presently Dr. Garelnabi is an Associate Professor at the department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences. Dr. Garelnabi authored several scientific articles and book chapters and presented his research work at several National and International meetings. He is an editorial board member and a reviewer for several scientific journals. In addition; Dr. Garelnabi served at the leadership of the American Heart Association council of Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and vascular Biology; where he started and chaired the Diversity Committee for the AHA-ATVB council. Dr. Garelnabi served on several leadership positions in the Board of the Northeast Section of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. During his tenure in the NE-AACC Dr. Garelnabi served as a program chair introduced several new initiatives; conducted a very successful term as program chair and section chair. As a Past chair Dr. Garelnabi chaired successfully the 1st Annual conference for the section. This service led to his recognition with a service award. Dr. Garelnabi currently serve as a Co-investigator on two NIH R01 projects studying the Boston Puerto Rican life style and Dietary Quality on Brain Health and Bone microarchitecture. Dr. Garelnabi is currently the Director for the Core Lab for the Center for Population Health. As a Core Lab Director, Dr. Garelnabi oversees the Biological samples Collections, Processing, Cataloging, Storage and analysis. The Core Lab perform basic hematology, immunology and clinical chemistry analysis in addition to determining the key nutrients, cytokines, lipids & lipids metabolites and oxidative stress biomarkers.
