Amal Khidir, MBBS, FAAP, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Assistant Dean for Faculty Development, Vice Chair of IRB and former Pediatric Clerkship Director at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar. Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Co-led the Council of Medical Students Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) Research and Scholarship Collaborative (2017-2022) and co-chaired the 2022 COMSEP Meeting Committee. Co-chair the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care Annual Meeting Committee. Mentor in the Leadership Excellence in Education for Professionalism (LEEP) Fellowship. Lead the Academic and Planning Office of the Association of Sudanese Professors in Qatar. American Board-certified pediatrician, practices pediatrics in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Sidra Medicine. Supervises learners clinically and in research.
Graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Khartoum University, Sudan. Completed pediatric residency training at Howard University Hospital, Washington, D.C., and became the pediatric clerkship director. Completed the Program for Educators in Healthcare Professions at Harvard Macy Institution, the LEEP Fellowship, and the COMSEP Coach Certificate.
Co-founder of the Professionalism Program at HMC (>4000 faculty, trainees, nurses, and pharmacists participated). Led and participated in 55 regional and international professional development workshops. Received several teaching awards and the COMSEP 2021 Research and Scholarship Award.
Awarded the Qatar National Research Fund Grant, "Providing Culturally Appropriate Health Care Services in Qatar: Development of a Multilingual Patient Cultural Assessment of Quality Instrument;" COMSEP Grant, “Exploring Belonging in Professional Identity Formation” a multi-institution study; and WCMQ Medical Education Research Grant “Impact of Perceived Generational Differences on Learning Project: A Multicenter, Multiphase Collaborative Study.”
